The Giraffe: Incubator Bed Bead
Premature babies lack the body fat necessary to maintain their body temperature, even when swaddled with blankets and wearing a hat. So incubators (or isolettes) are used to keep them warm in the NICU. The incubator will help them to sleep, grow, and thrive until they are big enough to maintain their own temperature in an open crib.
The Giraffe represents warmth, protection, and vision. Giraffes are very quiet, laid back, docile animals making little noise except for the odd bleat. The Giraffe represents the quiet environment in which the incubator provides in order to protect and comfort the growing baby.
